Phlebotomy Training Program
Aspirus offers paid Phlebotomy Trainings in partnership with our local technical college of Northcentral Technical College (Wausau, WI) throughout the year (Spring, Summer, Fall). Frequency is dependent upon class interest.
Program Information
- The program is 16 weeks in length and consists of the following courses being taken: Basic Lab Skills, and Phlebotomy.
- Aspirus pays for the Phlebotomy course and related course fees
- Includes: materials, textbooks, etc.
- An additional stipend for missed wages is paid to you for your time during the program
- The class hours will be during the day or afternoon depending on enrollment numbers
- Labs Tuesdays & Thursdays first 8 weeks of the course
- Clinicals the last 8 weeks of the course
- For Summer Only: Class & Clinical Hours occur simultaneously
- Upon completion of course, you will be offered a position at Aspirus, pending successful completion of all pre-employment requirements
- Note: Phlebotomists at Aspirus can earn stackable shift differentials for PM’s, Nights, and Weekends
Program Requirements
- A commitment to working as a Phlebotomist with Aspirus for at least one year, with a minimum of 48 hours per 2-week period
- Accommodations are available for students
- Upon applying for a spot in one of our sponsored classes, you will need to interview with a hiring manager and recruiter, complete a job shadow, a background check, and health screening

How often is a sponsored class run?
Sponsored Phlebotomy classes are generally run in the spring, summer, and fall.
When are classes typically posted to apply for?
Classes are typically posted 3 months prior to the start of the program.
Do I have to re-complete orientation if I already work for Aspirus?
No, you will not need to re-complete, but may be launched a couple extra learning modules in HealthStream.
When does the stipend get paid out?
You will receive the stipend within the first couple weeks of the program.

Am I allowed to get hired at a different Aspirus location than the one I complete clinicals at?
Yes, you can be hired at any Aspirus location that has an opening.
How do I pick up my class materials – books, etc.?
Aspirus will place a bookstore form for you about a week and a half prior to your start date, which at that time, you can go to your corresponding school’s bookstore to pick up your materials.
