Childhood Immunizations

Protecting your child’s health through safe, recommended vaccines

As part of our commitment to heal people, promote health and strengthen communities, routine immunizations play a vital role in keeping your child healthy. Vaccines help protect against many serious and preventable diseases, supporting not only your child’s well-being, but the health of your family and community.

Our pediatric care team follows guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) to ensure your child receives safe, effective and timely immunizations at every stage of development.

Why childhood immunizations matter

Immunizations help your child build protection against diseases that can lead to serious illness, hospitalization or long-term health complications. Vaccines are carefully tested for safety and effectiveness and are one of the most important steps you can take to protect your child’s health.

Staying up to date on recommended vaccines also helps prevent the spread of disease within schools, childcare settings and communities.

Recommended childhood immunizations

Routine immunizations are provided according to your child’s age and health needs. Recommended vaccines include:

  • Chickenpox (Varicella)
  • COVID-19
  • DTaP (for children younger than 7) or Tdap (for children age 7 and older), which protects against tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (whooping cough)
  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib)
  • Human papillomavirus (HPV)
  • Influenza (flu)
  • Meningococcal ACWY
  • Meningococcal B
  • Measles, mumps and rubella (MMR)
  • Polio
  • Pneumococcal
  • Rotavirus

When should my child receive vaccines?

Vaccines are given on a recommended schedule starting at birth and continuing through adolescence. Many immunizations are administered during routine Well Child Visits to ensure your child stays on track.

Your child’s provider will review their immunization record at each visit and make personalized recommendations based on age, health history and risk factors.

Are vaccines safe?

Yes. All recommended vaccines are rigorously tested and monitored for safety. They are approved by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
