Psychiatry

Struggling with mental health issues can feel overwhelming. At Aspirus Health, we want you to know that you do not have to manage your mental health alone.

What is psychiatry?

Psychiatrists use medical treatments to manage behavioral health disorders, including depression, schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, and bipolar disorder. Prescribed medications may include antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, and anxiolytics. Our services include:

  • Customized behavioral health medication management for adults, adolescents and children
  • Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
  • Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)
  • Long-acting injectables
  • Psychotherapy (also known as talk therapy)

Psychiatric care is personalized to each patient. The goal is not only to alleviate symptoms but also to help individuals lead fulfilling lives.

Does Aspirus have inpatient care units for mental health?

Some Aspirus locations offer inpatient mental health services for individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis or needing a higher level of care. These specialized hospital units provide a safe, supportive environment focused on stabilizing a patient’s physical and emotional well-being while preserving their dignity and privacy.

Because inpatient behavioral health services are not available at all Aspirus hospitals, care teams can help determine the most appropriate location and level of care based on a patient’s needs. A referral may not be required for emergency mental health evaluation or inpatient services.
