Contract Negotiations with Security Health Plan
Updates
Oct. 8: Aspirus Network, Inc., and Security Health Plan continue to make significant progress in our negotiations. We are very optimistic an agreement will be reached soon.
What’s Happening?
As the leading, local non-profit provider, Aspirus Health is important to patients and community members throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Each year, we serve hundreds of thousands of patients and their families, who seek care at our 18 hospitals, 75 clinics, nursing homes, critical care clinics, from our home health and hospice care nurses and caregivers, and through our pharmacies and medical transport services.
To sustain these many access points and the excellent, compassionate care our community members trust and deserve, we need greater support from the insurers who reimburse Aspirus for the care we deliver. As a result, we are negotiating for a more fair and equitable agreement with Security Health Plan (SHP).
Our existing agreement expires after December 31, 2024. For now, nothing changes for our patients and we are optimistic we will be able to come to a fair and equitable agreement to protect access to the Aspirus Health hospitals, clinics and providers you deserve, as well as our affiliated partner providers in Aspirus Network Inc. (ANI).
Why is this important?
As we navigate inflated costs and labor shortages our existing agreement no longer covers the cost of the care our providers deliver. We are simply working to ensure Aspirus can continue to employ the best team, invest in facilities and technology, and provide convenient access to the excellent care you deserve.
Nothing changes for now. However, if the parties are unable to find common ground and reach an agreement, Aspirus facilities – including our network of physicians, advanced practice clinicians, specialists, and affiliated ambulatory surgery centers – will be considered out of network for those with SHP coverage after December 31, 2024.
