What to Expect at the Neck Lift Consultation
Be prepared with the following information
- Your reasons for wanting a neck lift and the outcomes you desire.
- Your medical history and allergies
- A list of your current prescriptions and use of any over-the-counter medications, supplements, and vitamins.
- Use of alcohol and tobacco
During the consultation, plastic surgeon will:
- Examine your neck
- Take pictures and measurements of your neck
- Discuss options
- May suggest additional procedures that might give the result you desire
What to expect the day of surgery
- The surgery will be done as an outpatient.
- You will be sedated during the procedure.
- The typical neck lift involves a small incision that begins at the ear and extends behind the ear and along the hairline.
- There may also be a small incision on the chin that are easily concealed, given their location.
- When the surgery has been completed, you will be sent home with a chin strap that you will wear for several days or up to a week.
What to expect during recovery
- Your neck may feel tight
- You will have some bruising, which will fade with time
- There may be some sutures that need to be removed after a few days
- You will probably be ready to return to work after a week and resume normal activities after two weeks.
Potential risks of neck lift surgery
Risks associated with neck lift surgery are very infrequent but could include:
- An infection at the surgical site
- Bleeding under the skin
- Nerve injury
