Pediatrics
Primary care for infants, children and adolescents
As part of our commitment to heal people, promote health and strengthen communities, our pediatric care team is here to support your child at every stage of growth. From newborns to young adults, we partner with families to provide compassionate, personalized care that helps children thrive-backed by access to advanced services, including Level II and Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) for infants who need specialized support.
Establishing care with a pediatrician gives your child a strong foundation for lifelong health. Your child’s provider serves as a trusted partner-guiding development, addressing concerns, and helping your family make informed decisions every step of the way.
What is pediatrics?
Pediatrics is a specialized area of primary care focused on the physical, emotional and developmental health of infants, children and adolescents. Our pediatricians understand the unique needs of young patients and provide comprehensive care, including preventive services, vaccinations, diagnosis and treatment of illness, and ongoing monitoring of growth and development.
How often should my child see their pediatrician?
Regular visits are an important part of keeping your child healthy.
- Infants and toddlers typically attend well child visits at 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 and 24 months
- These visits support healthy development and ensure immunizations stay on schedule
- After age 2, most children benefit from annual wellness visits
In addition to scheduled visits, our team is here whenever questions or concerns arise-providing guidance, reassurance and care when you need it most.

Because we take the time to understand your child’s full health history, we can often offer same-day appointments or convenient virtual visits when appropriate.
What if my child needs immediate care?
When your child isn’t feeling well, timely care matters. Your pediatrician is often the best place to start for non-life-threatening concerns. If additional care is needed, we offer convenient immediate care options across our service area-so your child can be seen quickly and close to home.
What if my child needs a specialist?
If specialized care is needed, your pediatrician will help guide you through the process. We work closely with specialists to ensure coordinated, seamless care that supports your child’s overall health and well-being.
For newborns and infants who may need advanced care, our system includes access to two Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs), including a Level III NICU in Wausau, Wisconsin, and a Level II NICU in Duluth, Minnesota. This ensures specialized, high-level care for the smallest and most vulnerable patients, close to home when it matters most.
Where is pediatric care offered?
We provide pediatric services in communities across our service area, making it easier for families to access high-quality care close to home.
