Aspirus Cancer Care - WI – Aspirus Oncology Research Institute
Aspirus Wausau Hospital began offering cancer clinical trials in 1994 as an affiliate of the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC) and member of the UW Health oncology research program named Wisconsin Oncology Network (WON) enrolling hundreds of patients to Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group trials and Phase 2 investigator-initiated trials. In 2018, Aspirus moved away from the UWCCC and established a partnership with HSHS St. Vincent & Ascension Wisconsin named Cancer Research Of Wisconsin and Northern Michigan (CROWN). As a member of the NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP), Aspirus Oncology Research Institute (AORI) participates in NCI clinical trials offering treatment, cancer control, prevention, symptom management, and cancer care delivery research trials. AORI is the main member of six NCI funded research bases whose scientific leadership develop concepts and develop high quality, clinically relevant groundbreaking cancer clinical trials. To be a main member of these prestigious research groups, strict enrollment requirements must be adhered to each year to maintain main membership status. Since joining the CROWN NCORP, AORI has enrolled hundreds of research participants.
