Antibody Testing

What is it? Antibody testing detects susceptibility for and past infection of COVID-19. Aspirus providers can now order COVID-19 antibody tests. Testing will be performed daily, with results available within 24 hours of the sample arriving at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital Lab. Antibody testing can be performed at any Aspirus lab location and patients are not being referred to the alternative testing sites.

How do I get an antibody test?
Antibody testing for COVID-19 requires an order from a provider. Talk to your Aspirus primary care provider about testing. If you see a provider outside of Aspirus, ask about a testing referral.

COVID-19 antibody testing is intended to confirm a prior infection with COVID-19. Antibody tests should not be used to diagnose active infection. Typically, immunocompetent individuals with COVID-19 develop detectable antibodies within 14 days following onset of symptoms. Blood draw is not recommended before day 14. Results are reported as Positive or Negative.

COVID-19 Antibody Test Cash Price: $43.00**
COVID-19 Lab Specimen Collection Cash Price: $32.00**

**All health insurance carriers shall cover the full cost of antibody COVID-19 testing and collection. The Federal Government covers the cost of testing for uninsured individuals.

Please note: It is always best practice to contact your insurance provider to verify the cost or coverage of services.
