Birthing Services

Your birth. Your way. With all the safety of a hospital.

There is perhaps no more exciting and emotional time than the birth of a baby. At Aspirus, we are committed to making your delivery a safe, meaningful, and comfortable experience for you and your family.

From your first prenatal visit through delivery and postpartum care, we care for both mom and baby every step of the way. Our team provides expert support for routine pregnancies, high-risk pregnancies, and newborns who may need specialized care after birth.

We also offer childbirth education classes and access to advanced neonatal care within our health system, including Newborn ICU (NICU) services for babies who need extra support after delivery.

What to expect in our birthing centers

Our birthing centers are designed to feel warm, comfortable, and family-centered - more like a private, calming environment than a traditional hospital setting. Labor and delivery suites include modern amenities to support comfort and personalization.

Amenities may include spa-like private rooms, comfortable furnishings, private bathrooms, minifridges, aromatherapy, and space for support persons.

Personalizing your birth experience

Every birth is unique. We work closely with each family to support your preferences and goals for delivery. Creating a birth plan is encouraged so we can understand your wishes for labor, delivery, and postpartum care.

We support a variety of birth preferences, including options for minimal intervention and non-medicated pain management when appropriate.

  • Labor support tubs
  • Remote fetal monitoring (telemetry)
  • Nitrous oxide (laughing gas)
  • Aromatherapy
  • Birthing stools and exercise balls

Doulas and birth support

We support families who choose to use a doula during labor and delivery. Doula availability and related support programs may vary by location within our health system.

In select locations, financial assistance programs may also be available to help improve access to doula services.

High-risk pregnancy care

Our experienced teams provide specialized care for high-risk pregnancies, working closely with maternal-fetal medicine specialists when needed. Conditions we support include advanced maternal age, multiple gestation (twins or triplets), gestational diabetes, hypertension, and other maternal or fetal health concerns.

We also support advanced monitoring and coordination for pregnancies with increased medical complexity to help ensure safe outcomes for both mother and baby.

Newborn care and NICU support

After delivery, most newborns remain with their families and receive routine care from our pediatric and newborn teams. If a baby needs additional monitoring or specialized support, advanced Newborn ICU (NICU) services are available within our health system.

We offer different levels of Newborn ICU (NICU) care depending on a baby’s needs, with access to higher levels of support when medically necessary.

Breastfeeding support

Breastfeeding support is a priority across our birthing services. We offer education before delivery and ongoing lactation support after birth.

Our certified lactation consultants and trained nursing staff provide guidance in the hospital and through follow-up support programs to help families establish and maintain breastfeeding success.

Hospital safety and quality of care

Delivering in a hospital provides immediate access to expert medical teams and emergency support, ensuring the highest level of safety for both mother and baby.

Our birthing services are supported by nationally recognized standards and certifications, which may include designations such as Baby-Friendly recognition, breastfeeding support excellence, and safe sleep leadership programs.

What to bring to the hospital

When it is time for delivery, we recommend preparing a hospital bag with essential items for you, your support person, and your baby.

  • Personal care items
  • Comfortable clothes for your stay and going home
  • Snacks for your support person
  • Items for baby’s trip home, including clothing, blankets, and a car seat

Compassionate care for your growing family

From pregnancy through delivery and newborn care, our teams are here to support you with expertise, compassion, and personalized care. We are honored to be part of your birth experience and to help welcome your baby into the world safely.
