Upon First Anniversary, Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital Thanks Community

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – February 19 marked one year since the Stevens Point community welcomed the opening of Aspirus Stevens Point’s eight-bed inpatient hospital unit.

“Aspirus thanks the entire Stevens Point area for a wonderful first year of providing hospital care to the community,” said Bob Smith, Vice President - Aspirus Stevens Point. “We opened as a clinic in 2006, celebrated an extensive expansion in 2017, opened an ER in 2018, and are now thrilled to be celebrating our first anniversary of caring for hospitalized patients.”

The 6,000-square-foot hospital unit provides overnight care for patients, including emergency patients who need to stay for observation. The ability to care for patients overnight has also enabled Aspirus Stevens Point to offer surgeries it previously could not accommodate.

“Our Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital team cares for patients with a wide range of health conditions, including congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, infections such as pneumonia that require care in a hospital, and other conditions,” said Smith. “Our team also supports the surgeons who are performing a variety of procedures, including gall bladder surgeries, appendectomies, hernia repairs, joint replacements, gynecological surgeries, plastic surgeries, and more.”

Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital & Clinic is in the Portage County Business Park at 5409 Vern Holmes Drive. In addition to the new hospital unit, it includes a primary care clinic, specialty care clinic, walk-in clinic, surgery department and emergency department.
