Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - Leaders from Aspirus Health recently hosted State Senator Patrick Testin on July 25 for a site visit to Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids Hospital and Clinics.
“We were thrilled to share with Senator Testin the great work being done by our staff in Wisconsin Rapids,” said Chris Squire, President, Aspirus WI South & Southwest Divisions. “We were able to especially highlight our incredibly strong obstetrics and emergency services, including a tour through the Birthing Suites and Emergency Department.
Senator Testin also toured the Mid-State Technical College Healthcare Simulation Center, which is located on the 3rd floor of the hospital. It is a unique partnership with Aspirus that provides an interdisciplinary health care simulation training facility where Mid-State students benefit from educational experiences to supplement their clinical training.
“The simulation center partnership was a key highlight,” said Squire. “Senator Testin was able to see both the inpatient and outpatient simulation labs. The labs include high-quality manikins that allow students to practice direct patient care in a safe learning environment.”
Other features of the legislative visit included an overview of Aspirus Health’s Community Benefits program. Aspirus leaders shared about the hospital’s support for the Families and Schools Together (FAST) Program at area schools, the Fruit and Vegetable Prescription Program for eligible patients, and Aspirus’ partnership with Three Bridges Recovery to increase availability and accessibility for patients recovering from substance use.
“This was another great opportunity for us to highlight the impact of our programs and services to Senator Testin,” said Ryan Lown, Chief Administrative Officer, Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids Hospital. “We thank him for visiting and look forward to continuing the discussion on these important topics.”
Aspirus leaders also thanked Senator Testin for his role as co-vice chair on the Joint Finance Committee and his support in passing the state budget on July 3, which provides unprecedented Medicaid rate increases to Wisconsin hospitals.
