Lake Linden natives (and brothers) join Aspirus Health, expanding physical therapy services

Aspirus Health is pleased to welcome Lake Linden natives and physical therapists Beau and Blake Dupuis to its excellent outpatient therapies team. Blake Dupuis, PT, DPT, is the newest physical therapist at Aspirus Outpatient Therapies. He follows in the footsteps of his older brother Beau Dupuis, PT, DPT, CSCS, who joined Aspirus Health in May 2022. Both are now seeing patients at Aspirus Outpatient Therapies in Houghton and Calumet.

The brothers both earned their Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science from Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Mich., and their Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Mich.

Blake considers it a bonus to work with his older brother Beau. “We get to collaborate and run ideas off each other,” Blake said. “It’s a win-win for us. Every patient is different and each one has specific goals and milestones they want to reach. Having Beau and the expertise at Aspirus allows me to grow and continue to learn.”

Beau and Blake share special interests in orthopedics and sports rehabilitation. In June 2022, Beau became a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS). This certification designates Beau as having and using specialized scientific knowledge to train athletes for the primary goal of improving athletic performance in addition to meeting their therapy goals.

“We are delighted to bolster local, homegrown talent,” said Dave Callaghan, PT, OCS, manager - therapy services. “Two of our therapists were from Lake Linden and knew Blake and Beau. I also teach in the Central Michigan University Physical Therapy Program and had the honor of working with them. We saw early on they both have a strong work ethic.”

According to Beau, the brothers were inseparable growing up. “It’s pretty cool to see everything come full circle,” he said. “I would have never guessed we’d end up working at the same place, but I can’t imagine it any other way. The team at Aspirus is great; they now just have to put up with two of us!”

“Adding a second Dupuis brother to the Aspirus team brings our dedication and care to our community to another level,” Callaghan said. “Both bring unique talent and hands-on care to the community.”

“A fun fact: All of our physical therapists at Aspirus Outpatient Therapies in Calumet are Central Michigan University Physical Therapy graduates,” Callaghan added.

The Dupuis brothers reside in Lake Linden and enjoy hunting, weight training, high school football and IndyCar racing.

Aspirus Health currently offers free 15-minute consultations with any physical, occupational or speech therapist. Consultations allow individuals to have an area or problem examined and to discuss whether therapy may be beneficial.
