Aspirus Health is proud to announce that Melanee Tiura, has joined the organization as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital and Clinics. A native of Lake Linden, MI, Melanee brings more than 25 years of healthcare leadership experience to her new role and is returning home to serve the community that helped shape her career.
Melanee’s deep roots in the Copper Country, along with a passion for rural healthcare and proven executive leadership, position her as a strong asset for Aspirus Health. She began her career as a Clinical Dietitian, Certified Diabetes Educator and Director of Physician Services prior to moving out of the area.
Her career journey has since spanned academic, clinical, and executive positions, including faculty roles at Finlandia University and Central Michigan University, and key leadership roles such as CEO, CFO, and Hospital Administrator. Most recently, Melanee served as the Hospital Administrator at Providence Valdez Medical Center in Valdez, Alaska, where she led the operations of a 21-bed Critical Access Hospital in a rural setting similar to the Upper Peninsula.
“Returning to the Keweenaw feels like coming full circle,” said Tiura. “It’s an honor to bring my experiences back to the place that raised me. I’m excited to join the Aspirus team and help advance healthcare accessibility and quality for our community. This is a special place, and I’m proud to be part of its future.”
Melanee holds a Bachelor of Science in Clinical and Administrative Dietetics from Northern Michigan University, a Master of Science in Human Nutrition from Eastern Michigan University, and a Doctorate in Health Administration from Central Michigan University. She is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
