Aspirus Wausau Hospital Joy Team Leads Second Annual Earth Day Cleanup Effort

Team members from Aspirus Wausau Hospital once again came together to support the community this Earth Day, leading a downtown cleanup effort in partnership with the Wausau River District.
Approximately 50 volunteers gathered at Wausau’s 400 Block before spreading out across the downtown area to collect litter and improve public spaces. The initiative, organized by the Aspirus Wausau Hospital Joy Team, builds on the success of last year’s event and reinforces Aspirus’ commitment to community well-being and environmental stewardship.
Volunteers worked throughout the downtown area equipped with garbage bags, gloves, and grabbers, collecting trash and assisting with additional cleanup efforts, including removing old, non-functional holiday lighting from trees.
“This effort reflects what makes our team special. When given the opportunity, our team members step up in meaningful ways that go beyond the walls of the hospital,” said Lindsey Graff, director of nursing at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. “It is rewarding to see that commitment extend into the community and continue to grow each year.”
The event marked the second consecutive year Aspirus has led the Earth Day cleanup initiative. After a strong first year that included more than 50 participants and dozens of bags of trash collected, organizers expanded the opportunity to welcome broader community involvement in 2026.
By continuing this effort, Aspirus reinforces its mission to improve the health and well-being of the communities it serves, recognizing that a cleaner environment plays an important role in overall community health.
