Aspirus Wausau Hospital Earns 25 Years of Echocardiography Accreditation Excellence

Aspirus Wausau Hospital (AWH) has been recognized by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) for achieving 25 years of continuous accreditation in Adult Echocardiography, a distinction that reflects a longstanding commitment to quality cardiovascular imaging and patient care.

The milestone recognizes health care organizations that have maintained IAC accreditation for 25 consecutive years. AWH has continuously met rigorous national standards for echocardiography services since earning its initial accreditation in 2001.

Echocardiography uses ultrasound technology to evaluate the heart's structure and function through a noninvasive exam. The testing helps physicians diagnose and monitor a variety of cardiac conditions, including heart valve disease, blood clots, heart failure, and other abnormalities.

"This recognition reflects the dedication, expertise, and consistency of our entire echocardiography team over the past 25 years," said Melissa Pittenger, Director of Cardiopulmonary Services and Respiratory Therapy at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. "Our staff is committed to delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging that helps patients receive accurate diagnoses and timely care. We are proud to be recognized for maintaining these standards year after year."

IAC accreditation is awarded to facilities that demonstrate excellence in patient care, staff qualifications, quality assurance processes, and adherence to nationally recognized standards.
"As heart care continues to evolve, maintaining accreditation ensures our patients can feel confident they are receiving care that meets the highest quality benchmarks," Pittenger said.
