Aspirus to Host “Talk With A Doc” Event on Tick Safety

With early reports suggesting an active season for ticks across the region, Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital & Clinics is inviting community members to learn how to stay safe and recognize the signs of tick-related illness during an upcoming “Talk With A Doc” presentation.

The free event, “Ticks, Tick Bites & Rashes: What You Need to Know,” will feature Bella Nutini, PA-C, with Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital & Clinics. Bella will provide helpful guidance on identifying ticks, understanding the risks of tick bites, and recognizing rashes and symptoms that may require medical attention.

The event will take place Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Aspirus Houghton Clinic. Light refreshments will be provided. During the session, attendees will learn about:

  • Common types of ticks found in the Upper Peninsula
  • How to safely remove a tick and when to seek care
  • Signs and symptoms of tick-borne illness
  • Types of rashes to watch for following a bite
  • Prevention strategies, including protective clothing and repellents

“Ticks are becoming more prevalent in our area, and it’s important for individuals and families to know how to protect themselves and what to watch for after spending time outdoors,” said Nutini. “This presentation will help community members feel more prepared and confident when it comes to tick safety.”

The Talk With A Doc series provides an opportunity for community members to connect with providers in an informal setting while learning about important health topics and services available locally.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is requested. For more information or to register, call 906-337-6541.
