STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Patients at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital consistently praise the quality of their meals, and that excellence extends far beyond the hospital’s dining trays. The Food and Nutrition Services team is not only known for serving fresh, thoughtful meals to patients and visitors, but also for nourishing the broader community in meaningful ways.
For more than 30 years, Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital has prepared meals for the Meals on Wheels Program of Stevens Point, a partnership that has grown significantly over time. What once began as a straightforward meal‑prep effort now includes a rising number of meals and increasingly complex dietary needs.
“We cater to modified diets as well, which makes the process more time consuming and labor intensive,” said Catherine Noth, Nutrition and Food Services Manager. “But it’s important work, and our team takes pride in doing it well.”
Meals on Wheels preparation must meet strict Wisconsin Food Code safety standards, something made possible by Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital’s industrial kitchen and the expertise of its Food and Nutrition Services team.
“Having an industrial kitchen is a unique asset,” Noth said. “Using that asset to benefit the community reflects our value of compassion and our mission of strengthening communities.”
This winter, Aspirus Health expanded its support by contributing $1,000 in matching funds to CoVantage Credit Union’s Giving Tuesday campaign, which selected Meals on Wheels as its beneficiary. CoVantage matched donations from other organizations, amplifying the program’s impact. Aspirus Community Health was proud to help boost funding for a service that aligns so closely with its commitment to community well‑being.
From delivering comfort to patients inside the hospital to supporting seniors across Stevens Point, Aspirus Health Food and Nutrition Services continues to show that good food is more than a meal, it’s a way to strengthen a community.
