Aspirus Keweenaw is encouraging community members to protect themselves and their families this flu season by attending upcoming flu shot clinics at its Laurium and Houghton clinic locations.
Flu vaccinations will be available for individuals ages 6 months and older. Children under age 18 must have parental consent. All vaccinations will be entered into the Michigan Care Improvement Registry.
Health experts continue to recommend annual flu vaccination as the best defense against seasonal influenza. Getting vaccinated can help reduce the risk of illness, hospitalization, and the spread of flu within families, schools, workplaces, and the community.
Community flu vaccination clinics are scheduled for the following dates:
Aspirus Laurium Clinic
205 Osceola Street, Laurium
Tuesday, October 13
3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Aspirus Houghton Clinic
1000 Cedar Street, Houghton
Tuesday, October 20
2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Appointments are recommended and may be scheduled by calling 906-337-6560, although walk-ins are welcome at both locations.
Individuals are encouraged to bring their insurance card and wear clothing that allows easy access to the upper arm for vaccination. Most insurance plans cover flu vaccinations with no copay.
Community members who are unable to attend one of the scheduled clinics may arrange a flu shot appointment through their local Aspirus clinic. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 906-337-6560.
