Aspirus Iron River Welcomes Dr. Zuhair Ghanem Back to Oncology and Hematology Services

Aspirus Iron River Hospital & Clinics is pleased to announce that Zuhair Ghanem, MD, is expanding access to specialized oncology and hematology care in Iron River and throughout Iron County. Beginning September 18, he will see patients at Aspirus Iron River Clinic.

Dr. Ghanem is a familiar face to both Aspirus and Upper Peninsula patients. Since returning to Aspirus in 2023, he has cared for patients at Aspirus Keweenaw and Aspirus Ironwood. His addition to Aspirus Iron River further strengthens the organization's commitment to bringing advanced cancer and blood disorder care closer to home.

Board certified in medical oncology, hematology, geriatric medicine, and internal medicine, Dr. Ghanem completed advanced fellowship training in hematology and medical oncology at Howard University in Washington, D.C., and his residency training in internal medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine/St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey.

Dr. Ghanem specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and blood disorders and is the region's only board-certified hematologist. His expertise includes the treatment of conditions such as leukemia, lymphoma, anemia, clotting disorders, and other diseases affecting the blood and blood-forming organs.

“Providing high-quality specialty care close to home is essential for patients and families facing complex health challenges,” said Dr. Ghanem. “I look forward to reconnecting with the Iron River community and continuing to provide compassionate, patient-centered oncology and hematology care.”

Iron County and surrounding areas will benefit from increased access to specialty services while remaining close to family, support systems, and local healthcare resources.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Ghanem enjoys fishing and hiking.
