Aspirus Iron River Hospital and Clinics are pleased to announce the launch of Wisdom & Wellness, a free monthly community education event designed to provide trusted, accessible health information on a different topic each month.
This series brings community members together to hear directly from local healthcare experts as they share knowledge, answer questions, and discuss practical steps to support better health. The goal is simple: to talk about what matters most—your health.
The January Wisdom & Wellness session will focus on Health and Diabetes Education and will be held:
Friday, January 16, 2026, 12:00 – 1:00 PM CT
Aspirus Iron River Hospital, 1400 W. Ice Lake Road, Iron River, MI 49935
The session will be presented by nursing student Madison Koski, who will provide an overview of diabetes prevention and management, lifestyle considerations, and the importance of early education and ongoing care.
“Diabetes education is about empowering people with knowledge,” said Madison Koski. “Small, informed changes can make a big difference in long-term health. My goal is to help community members feel confident asking questions and taking proactive steps toward wellness.”
Topics Covered Will Include:
- What diabetes is and common myths
- Monitoring blood sugar levels
- Nutrition and meal planning
- Overview of medications and insulin
- Symptoms and complications to watch for
- Practical lifestyle strategies for long-term health
This event is free of charge, but registration is required. To reserve your spot, please call 906-265-0402. Light refreshments will be provided.
Community members are encouraged to attend whether they are seeking preventive guidance, living with diabetes, or simply interested in learning more about their health. Don’t miss this opportunity to gain practical tools, ask questions, and take charge of your well-being.
