Aspirus Hospitals Support Local Students through WHA Foundation Grants

Aspirus Medford Hospital and Aspirus Wausau Hospital are helping grow the next generation of health care professionals through new partnerships with the Wisconsin Hospital Association (WHA) Foundation.

Both hospitals contributed $500 to match WHA Foundation grant funding, bringing total support to $1,000 each for new HOSA–Future Health Professionals chapters at Medford Area Senior High School and Wausau East High School.

HOSA is an international student organization that provides members with opportunities to explore health care careers, develop leadership skills, and participate in competitive and educational events. The new chapters at Medford and Wausau East will connect students with local health care professionals and help prepare them for future careers in health care.

“We’re excited to support students who are passionate about health care,” said Jeff Wicklander, President of Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Since launching last year, the WHA Foundation’s HOSA grant program has provided more than $59,000 to 44 schools across Wisconsin, in partnership with 24 hospitals and health systems, including Aspirus.

“By investing in programs like HOSA, we are helping to inspire and prepare the next generation of professionals who will care for our communities,” said Jason Troxell, President Aspirus Medford Hospital.
