Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids Hospital (AWR) and
Howard Young Medical Center (HYMC) in Woodruff have been nationally recognized for excellence in cleanliness, earning a prestigious 5-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The designation places the two Aspirus hospitals among 396 facilities nationwide recognized by Becker's Hospital Review for outstanding patient-reported cleanliness.
The rating is based on data collected through the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey—a standardized, national survey of patients’ experiences during recent inpatient hospital stays. The surveys were completed between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025, with the most recent data update released on May 13, 2026.
Among the 33 Wisconsin hospitals to receive the highest possible cleanliness rating were HYMC and AWR. The 5-star rating reflects patients' confidence in each facility's cleanliness — an essential factor in preventing infections and ensuring comfort during hospital stays.
