Aspirus Health Breaks Ground for Chippewa Falls Hospital and Clinic

35,000-square-foot facility will expand local emergency, inpatient and primary care

Chippewa Falls, WI- Aspirus Health teamed up with construction partners and community leaders in a groundbreaking celebration for its new hospital and clinic in Chippewa Falls on Thursday, August 14.

“At Aspirus, we proudly serve rural and small-town communities, and this project strengthens our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of Chippewa Falls and the surrounding area—with compassion, expertise, and excellence,” said Matt Heywood, President and CEO of Aspirus Health. “We listened to the community, and this project directly answers what you’ve told us: you want more local health care options, and you deserve the very best.”

Crews began clearing and preparing the 22-acre site on Chippewa Crossing Boulevard earlier this year. The project will also add new roads to improve access to the future hospital campus. In the weeks ahead, construction teams will begin work on the approximately 35,000-square-foot facility, a major step toward closing health care gaps in the region.

“We know how vital these services are to the Chippewa Falls community, said Jason Krueger, vice president and general manager of Boldt, the general contractor for the new hospital.

“We’ll be employing a variety of innovative approaches to construction, including offsite fabrication, to help Aspirus bring this essential hospital online quickly so patients can start accessing these services sooner.”

The facility’s first phase will deliver an emergency department with 10 treatment rooms, 10 inpatient beds, an on-site clinic with 12 treatment rooms, imaging services (X-ray and CT), laboratory services, and a pharmacy.

“We’re thrilled to expand and elevate local care while boosting the local economy,” said Jason Troxell, Aspirus Wisconsin Northwest Region President. “We welcome the chance to connect with our neighbors as we heal people, promote health, and strengthen communities.”

The estimated completion date of Aspirus Chippewa Falls Hospital and Clinic is September 2026.
