TOMAHAWK, Wis. – Aspirus Health has donated two GE LOGIQ E9 ultrasound systems to Concordia University Wisconsin’s Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program, helping students gain hands-on experience with the same technology commonly used in clinical settings across the region.
The donation reflects Aspirus’ commitment to strengthening the future healthcare workforce by ensuring students have access to industry-relevant equipment as they prepare for careers in medical imaging.
“As healthcare technology evolves, it is important that students have opportunities to train on equipment they are likely to encounter during clinical rotations and in their future careers,” said Laurie Lemke, Aspirus North Region Manager of Imaging Services. “When the opportunity arose to donate these ultrasound systems, we wanted to ensure they would continue to provide value by helping educate the next generation of sonographers. Concordia University Wisconsin was a natural choice because of its outstanding reputation for excellence in sonography education and its commitment to preparing highly skilled imaging professionals.”
The GE LOGIQ E9 systems were retired as part of Aspirus’ ongoing equipment upgrades. Rather than disposing of technology that still has significant educational value, Aspirus worked with Concordia to place the systems where they can continue to make an impact for years to come.
The additional equipment provides students with increased access to ultrasound technology in the classroom and scan lab, allowing them to build confidence, develop technical skills, and gain familiarity with machine controls before entering clinical environments. This hands-on experience helps students focus on delivering quality patient care rather than learning new equipment during clinical rotations.
The partnership also highlights the growing demand for sonographers and imaging professionals throughout northern Wisconsin. Through conversations surrounding the donation, Aspirus and Concordia have identified opportunities to strengthen connections between healthcare employers and future graduates.

Aspirus has also committed to donating additional ultrasound probes and transducers to support the university’s educational efforts.
