Aspirus Divine Savior Launches Summer Farmers Market to Support Community Health

PORTAGE, Wis.Aspirus Divine Savior Hospital kicked off its Summer Farmers Market on June 2nd, expanding access to fresh, locally grown food for patients, employees, and community members. The outdoor market will run June through October, offering more space for local vendors, growers, and food trucks to participate.

The market, held in the front parking lot on the first Tuesday of each month from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., also provides a convenient way for patients to use their Fruit & Vegetable Prescriptions, a program designed to increase access to nutritious foods and support chronic disease prevention.

Kari Due, Community Health Specialist with Aspirus Health, said the expanded outdoor market strengthens the hospital’s commitment to improving community well‑being. “Hosting a summer farmers market on site creates an opportunity for our patients, employees, and community members to access fresh, locally grown food while supporting farmers and small businesses in our area.”

Linda Krueger, Patient Experience Supervisor and co‑coordinator of the market, emphasized the importance of convenience and connection. “We’re happy to provide a welcoming and easy way for people to access local products. We invite everyone to stop by the front parking lot on the first Tuesday of the month between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to check it out,” Krueger said.

The Summer Farmers Market builds on Aspirus Health’s ongoing efforts to promote healthy lifestyles, support local agriculture, and strengthen community partnerships.
