10th grade students tour Aspirus Ontonagon's Emergency Department

Tenth grade students from Ontonagon Area Schools recently toured the emergency department (ED) at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital to learn all about the emergency care services provided to patients locally. The tours were led by ED medical staff, as well as EMTs and paramedics with Aspirus MedEvac and SONCO Ambulance.

In addition to getting an up-close look at the ED, students had the opportunity to ask medical staff and emergency responders about their careers. A real eye-opener for many of the students was looking inside the emergency vehicles responders use during a regular day’s work.

This was the first year Aspirus Ontonagon partnered with Ontonagon Schools for students to tour the facility. The plan is to make it an annual event that will be open to all classes in grades kindergarten through 12.
