U.S. Senator Gary Peters (MI) visits Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital

During his second #RideMI Motorcycle Tour, U.S. Senator Gary Peters (MI) visited Asprius Ontonagon Hospital on Tuesday and learned how Aspirus is making excellent health care more accessible in rural Upper Peninsula communities.
Tours of the new Emergency Department and Inpatient Care Unit were led by Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital Project Manager Lee Anne Jessup (pictured in the photos at right). Pictured above with Sen. Peters (middle) are Mike Hauswirth, CEO of Aspirus Ontonagon and Aspirus Keweenaw hospitals, and Chuck Nelson, Aspirus U.P. Regional CEO.
Following the tours, Sen. Peters talked with TV6 and Fox UP about the importance of having hospitals like Aspirus Ontonagon serving rural communities. “Certainly this is a great asset for the people of Ontonagon, and we have to make sure that the funds continue to come to places like this hospital to provide the health care that people need,” he said.
