Two Local EMS Professionals Attend National EMS World Expo

Thanks to Howard Young Medical Center and the Walter Olson Medical Staff Education Fund

WOODRUFF, Wis. – Howard Young Medical Center, part of Aspirus Health, is proud to announce that Brady Geiss and Jackey Postuchow attended the EMS World Expo, held October 20–24 in Indianapolis. Their participation was made possible through the support of the Walter Olson Medical Staff Education Fund, which provides continuing education opportunities for health care professionals serving northern Wisconsin.

The annual EMS World Expo is one of the nation’s largest gatherings of emergency medical services professionals. The conference offers extensive education, hands-on workshops, and networking focused on the latest advancements in prehospital care, emergency medicine, and patient transport.

Geiss, a Critical Care Paramedic and IBSC Flight Paramedic Certified provider, serves with Aspirus MedEvac Air 1 based in Woodruff at Howard Young Medical Center. With more than eight years of EMS experience, including service with Oneida County EMS, Geiss says his role as a flight paramedic allows him to deliver critical care to patients across northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula.

“Finding this job as a flight paramedic has been an amazing experience,” said Geiss. “I look forward to sharing what I learned at the Expo with other EMS providers throughout our region to help strengthen emergency care in rural communities.”

Postuchow, a Nationally Registered Advanced EMT (NRAEMT), volunteers with Plum Lake Ambulance Service, as well as St. Germain Fire/Rescue and Boulder Junction Volunteer Fire Department. Her passion for community service began after recognizing the critical need for EMS volunteers in her area.

“Volunteering in rural EMS is both rewarding and challenging,” said Postuchow. “The EMS World Expo provided valuable knowledge that I can bring back to strengthen training, improve care, and inspire the next generation of EMS providers in northern Wisconsin.”

Since its establishment in 1972, the Walter Olson Medical Staff Education Fund has supported the ongoing education and professional development of medical staff at Howard Young Medical Center. The fund honors Walter Olson, a former patient who generously created the endowment to ensure caregivers remain at the forefront of medical knowledge and technical skills.

The purpose of the Walter Olson Medical Staff Education Fund is primarily for the education of the physicians of HYMC and secondarily for the education of other health care professionals of HYMC. It is the primary objective of the fund to maintain the high quality of healthcare in the Lakeland area by helping the medical staff of HYMC stay at the forefront of medical knowledge and technical expertise.

“The Walter Olson Fund is a wonderful example of how community generosity continues to strengthen health care across the Northwoods,” said Lori Knitt, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, Aspirus Health North Division. “We are proud of Brady and Jackey for their dedication to learning and for their commitment to improving emergency medical care for the communities we serve.”
