Learn how to add healthy color to your plate during a free cooking demonstration with Aspirus Keweenaw, Pat’s Foods

From cherry tomatoes to red onions, golden corn kernels to green bell peppers, many veggies are freshest in summer. Learn how to make a colorful and healthy variety a part of your meal plan during a free cooking demonstration at Pat’s Foods in Calumet.

Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital and Clinics is partnering with Pat’s Foods to offer an educational cooking demonstration at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14. Aspirus Keweenaw Clinical Dietitian Taylor Mattson will discuss micronutrients and why it’s important to make colorful fruits and vegetables a part of your regular diet. On hand to help with the demonstration will be Aspirus Kinesiologists Sarah Golus and Andrew Meverden. Pre-registration is required for this free event. Call 337-6528 to reserve your spot.

“The colors of fruits and vegetables give you a hint about the vitamins and minerals inside and that’s what we’ll be sharing with you,” said Mattson. “It’s so important to understand the substantial health benefits they offer.”

Take-away resources will be provided at the cooking demonstration, including informational brochures on the following topics:

• Smart shopping for healthy fruits and vegetables
• Tips to add more vegetables to your day
• Seasons of eating
• Eat more color
