Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital Welcomes Physical Therapist Nate Maday, DPT

TOMAHAWK, Wis. – Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital is pleased to welcome Nate Maday, DPT, to its Physical Therapy Department. Nate joins the Aspirus rehabilitation team to provide comprehensive physical therapy services to patients of all ages, helping them restore function, relieve pain, and improve quality of life.

A Tomahawk native and 2010 graduate of Tomahawk High School, Nate is proud to bring his skills back to his hometown. “The plan was always to come back,” Nate said. “After years of school and work elsewhere, it feels great to return to the community where I grew up and to work with people I’ve known my whole life.” Two of his sisters also work for Aspirus Health, one in Wausau and one in Tomahawk.

Nate earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from South College in Atlanta, Georgia, completing a hybrid program that blended online coursework with on-campus clinical training. He earned an associate degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) in Green Bay and his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee.

Before returning to Tomahawk as a DPT, Nate worked seven years with Aspirus as a Physical Therapist Assistant, gaining broad experience across patient populations and therapy settings. Nate’s professional interests include neurological rehabilitation and musculoskeletal conditions—areas that allow him to help patients regain independence and mobility after injury, surgery, or illness. “In the Northwoods, you have to know a little bit about everything,” he said. “But I’m especially drawn to neuro and musculoskeletal cases because they challenge you to think critically and personalize care for every patient.”

“We’re thrilled to welcome Nate back to our team,” said Lori Mott, PT, Physical Therapist at Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital. “He brings a great combination of local roots, advanced education, and genuine compassion for his patients. His commitment to our community and his well-rounded experience make him a wonderful addition to our department.”

The Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital Physical Therapy Department provides a full range of services to help patients recover from injury, surgery, or illness. Treatments include orthopedic and sports rehabilitation, balance and fall prevention, post-surgical therapy, neurological rehabilitation, pain management, and pediatric therapy. The department works closely with patients to develop individualized care plans that support recovery, improve mobility, and enhance overall wellness.

For Nate, what makes Aspirus Tomahawk special is the sense of community. “It’s rewarding to work in rural health care,” he said. “You know your patients and their families. That connection makes the work more meaningful.”

When he’s not helping patients, Nate enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, Allison, and their two young children. His hobbies include fishing, hunting, canoeing, hiking, and camping.

The fully staffed team at Aspirus Outpatient Therapies – Tomahawk offers physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please call 715.453.7740 or visit aspirus.org.
