Aspirus Stanley Clinic to Help Families Say Boo to the Flu

(Stanley, Wis.) – Aspirus Stanley Clinic is offering two unique flu clinics for the Community in the month of October.

Boo to the Flu, is a Halloween-themed flu clinic being held at Aspirus Stanley Clinic located at 1120 Pine Street.  Nursing students from Chippewa Valley Technical College will join in this community-based effort on  Wednesday, October 15 from 9 a.m. – Noon and Wednesday, October 22 from 1- 4 p.m.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend all people 6 months or older to  get vaccinated against the seasonal flu.  It is highly recommended for:
Adults 50 years of age and older
Residents of long-term care facilities with chronic medical conditions
People with serious long-term health conditions, such as a weakened immune system due to:
HIV/Aids or other diseases that affect the immune system
Long-term treatment with drugs such as steroids
Cancer treatment with x-rays or drugs
Health care professionals, family members or others in close contact with people at risk of serious influenza

“The number one thing people can do to minimize their risk of getting the flu is getting the flu shot,” says Katherine Jackson-Schneider, DO, a Family Medicine Physician at Aspirus Stanley Clinic. “The benefit of preventing the flu outweighs many risks that people may worry about when getting the flu shot. If you have any concerns about the flu shot, talk to your medical provider or pharmacist.”

Appointments are available for Boo to the Flu by calling Aspirus Stanley Clinic at 715.644.5530. Walk-ins are also welcome. Participants will receive a Halloween themed treat from the Students at Chippewa Valley Technical College.
