Aspirus Rhinelander Hospital Expands Urgent Care Hours

(RHINELANDER, Wis.) – You can’t always plan when you need health care. Illness and injury often happen at the most inconvenient times—when your regular provider isn’t available. With Urgent Care, you still have access to quality care when and where you need it.

Aspirus Rhinelander Hospital, located at 2251 N Shore Dr., has expanded its Urgent Care hours to provide timely treatment for non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries. Urgent Care is now available without an appointment, seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

“Expanding Urgent Care hours means more flexibility and convenience for our community,” said Ra'Chell Lucas, Nursing Director at Aspirus Rhinelander Hospital. “Whether it’s a weekend fever or a sprain after work, we’re here to offer safe, timely care without an ER visit.”

Understanding whether to choose Urgent Care or the Emergency Department (ED) can sometimes be confusing. Urgent Care is ideal for conditions that need prompt attention but aren’t life-threatening—such as allergies, pink eye, minor cuts, rashes, colds, flu, sprains, and ear infections. Urgent Care can also provide basic lab tests, imaging, and minor procedures to help determine a diagnosis and treatment plan.

“Urgent Care is perfect for those in-between situations—too serious to wait, but not serious enough for the ER,” said Lucas. “But if you or a loved one is experiencing chest pain, stroke symptoms, or significant head trauma, don’t wait. Call 911 or go to the nearest Emergency Department.” Beyond convenience, Urgent Care also offers shorter wait times and typically lower out-of-pocket costs than an emergency room visit.

For even more flexibility, Aspirus Rhinelander Clinic – Chippewa Drive offers Walk-In Care daily for minor, non-life-threatening conditions such as colds, coughs, minor injuries, and rashes.
