Aspirus Rhinelander Clinic Welcomes Laurie Buckman, CNM, to Women’s Health Team

RHINELANDER, Wis. – Aspirus Rhinelander Clinic is pleased to announce that certified nurse midwife Laurie Buckman, CNM, APN, has joined the clinic’s Women’s Health team at the North Shore Drive location. With decades of experience in obstetrics, gynecology, and midwifery care, Buckman brings a patient-centered approach to empowering women throughout every stage of life.

“I am passionate about providing safe, inclusive care and helping women feel confident and informed about their health,” said Buckman. “I view my role as a guide, supporting patients in making decisions that are right for them while ensuring they feel heard and supported every step of the way. I am thrilled to continue this work in Rhinelander and be part of the community.”

A certified nurse midwife (CNM) is an advanced practice provider specializing in women’s reproductive health, pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care. CNMs deliver personalized, relationship-based care that includes routine gynecologic exams, family planning, preconception counseling, prenatal care, labor support, and birth services. They are also trained to manage common health conditions, provide education on wellness and prevention, and collaborate closely with OB/GYN physicians when higher-risk medical needs arise. Their approach emphasizes safety, evidence-based practice, and empowering women to make informed decisions about their health.

Buckman began her healthcare career as a CNA before earning her associate’s degree in nursing in 1997. She later completed her BSN in 2015 and her MSN/CNM training, becoming a certified nurse midwife. With over 27 years of labor and delivery experience and more than 500 deliveries to her credit, she provides comprehensive care in obstetrics, gynecology, prenatal, postpartum, well-woman visits, and procedures such as IUD and Nexplanon insertions. She also participates in on-call rotations, providing 24-hour coverage for patients in collaboration with OB/GYN physicians.

When she isn’t caring for patients, Buckman enjoys spending time with family and fishing with her husband.
