Working hard at Aspirus as a Medical Assistant

- How long have you been working at Aspirus and where have you previously worked?
I have been at Aspirus Riverview since December of 2015. This position was my first experience as a Medical Assistant. Prior to my employment at Aspirus, I worked at a long-term care facility with individuals struggling with high behaviors.
- Why did you start working at Aspirus?
I graduated from Mid-State Technical College in 2015. As part of the program, I participated in clinicals, which took place in Nekoosa with Dr. Flinders. I immediately loved the atmosphere and working with patients, I couldn’t wait to get started in the medical field.
- What is your day to day like?
My day to day is busy to say the least. Most days, the environment is fast paced, however this makes the day go by quickly. Multitasking and prioritizing are a must. Although some days can be harder than others, the gratification of helping and assisting other individuals is well worth it.
- What do you enjoy about working at Aspirus?
What I love about Aspirus is the people I work with. I luckily get to assist Dr. Natividad, who is wonderful to work with. She makes the workdays fun and is very knowledgeable and patient. I most enjoy the patients I see and being able to assist them.
- What has it been like working here during the COVID-19 pandemic?
To be honest, it has not been an easy time working during the COVID-19 pandemic. The beginning of the pandemic was the hardest with so many things changing all the time. Now that we have better understanding of the virus, the stress level has decreased somewhat. With more staff available, I feel the stress will drop even more. Working in the medical field puts into perspective how this has affected not only the physical health of others, but their mental as well.
