Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Visits Aspirus Riverview Hospital

In honor of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, representatives from Wisconsin’s Department of Workforce Development recently visited the Project SEARCH team at Aspirus Riverview Hospital.

The Project SEARCH interns shared what they are learning and talked about the jobs they hope to get when they graduate from the program in May. The DWD representatives also had the opportunity to see some of the interns’ work stations throughout the hospital.

Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month raises awareness about the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in all aspects of community life, as well as awareness of the barriers that people with disabilities still sometimes face in connecting to the communities in which they live. Project SEARCH is a work program for young adults with disabilities to gain job skills and make connections in order to obtain employment. Aspirus has Project SEARCH programs at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, Aspirus Riverview Hospital, and Howard Young Medical Center.
