State Representative Scott Krug Visits Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids

Leaders from Aspirus Health recently hosted State Representative Scott Krug on August 11 for a site visit to Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids Hospital and Clinics.

“We were thrilled to share with Representative Krug the great work being done by our staff in Wisconsin Rapids and the growing geographic footprint of Aspirus Health,” said Chris Squire, President, Aspirus WI South & Southwest Divisions. “Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids plays an important role in our system of rural care.”

Aspirus has approximately 745 employees in the Southwest Division, which aligns with Rep. Krug's district. Nearly 600 babies are delivered at Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids each year, the third most babies in the Aspirus system, behind Aspirus Wausau Hospital and Aspirus St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth.

The emergency department cares for more than 20,000 patients annually. Rep. Krug had the chance to tour and meet employees of several departments.

Other features of the legislative visit included an overview of Aspirus Health’s Community Benefits program. Aspirus leaders shared about the hospital’s support for the Families and Schools Together (FAST) Program at area schools, the Fruit and Vegetable Prescription Program for eligible patients, and Aspirus’ partnership with Three Bridges Recovery to increase availability and accessibility for patients recovering from substance use.

“This was another great opportunity for us to highlight the impact of our programs and services to Representative Krug,” said Ryan Lown, Chief Administrative Officer, Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids Hospital. “We thank him for visiting and look forward to continuing the discussion on these important topics.”
