Visitor Guidelines

As of April 26, 2022, visitor guidelines at our clinics and hospital inpatient units across Wisconsin and Upper Michigan allow two visitors or support people at a time, per patient.

  • All approved visitors will be screened upon entering our facilities and anyone age 2+ is required to wear a mask throughout the duration of their visit.

This applies across all patient care settings with the following exceptions:

  • Assisted Living Facilities/Nursing Homes – Aspirus locations will follow the state regulations for visitation. Visitors and families are advised to call the facility directly to discuss.
  • Compassionate care – Exceptions can be made to allow additional visitors at the discretion of the care team during end-of-life, labor and delivery, and disability situations.
  • COVID-19 patients – Limited. See below.
  • Emergency Departments – One adult visitor/support person per adult patient; two per pediatric patient.
  • Pediatric patients – Patient siblings are not allowed.

Hospital visitor hours are generally defined as 8 am-6 pm unless exceptions are made for compassionate care.

Visiting COVID-19 Patients

Aspirus Health allows limited visitation for COVID-19 patients. All interested visitors should coordinate potential visits with their loved one's care team and understand the full expectations of any visit. To ensure everyone's safety, the following guidelines apply when visiting COVID-positive patients:

  • Visitation is subject to the availability of personal protection equipment (PPE) for visitors.
  • Visitors must be 18 or older.
  • The maximum in room visit time is limited to one visitor per day for 10 minutes in a 24-hour period.
    • The care team will work with you to determine visit frequency.
  • Vaccination is highly recommended for visitors to COVID-19+ patients.
  • Visitors will be escorted to the unit and must check in with a nurse prior to entering the COVID-19 patient care area.
  • Visitors will be asked to sign a waiver and review guidelines for visitation.
  • PPE will be provided prior to entering a patient’s room. Visitors are required to utilize PPE provided by care team. This includes gloves, gown, facemask, and a face shield. The care team will assist with proper application and removal of PPE.

Visitors must meet the following conditions:

  • No current COVID-19 symptoms or positive COVID-19 test within the past 14 days
  • If close contact with the inpatient prior to admission, the visitor must wait 14 days since last contact
  • Visitors that do not adhere to visitation guidelines will be asked to quarantine for 14 days prior to any additional visits

Special considerations

  • Exceptions to the above visitation guidelines may be given for patients who are minors, have cognitive disability or who are in end-of-life situations.

Aspirus will continually monitor COVID-19 activity, vaccination rates and the latest guidance from public health for any future considerations related to visitors.

Aspirus appreciates the continued cooperation of its visitors, patients, associates and providers to support infection control efforts and help minimize the spread of respiratory infections and COVID-19. All community members are encouraged to get vaccinated as the best way to protect yourself and others from COVID-19 and its variants. Vaccination appointments can be made through the MyAspirus app or online patient portal, or by calling the Aspirus COVID-19 Call Center at 1-844-568-0701.
