Aspirus Medford launches Fruit and Vegetable Prescription (FVRx) Program

Aspirus Medford Hospital & Clinics has launched a Fruit and Vegetable Prescription (FVRx) Program which helps provide patients with fresh produce.

This program is designed so health care providers and staff can help eligible patients eat more fruits and veggies by using local resources, particularly local farmers markets. Eligible patients are identified by the Aspirus Patient-Centered Medical Home team and given a “prescription” voucher to use at one of many participating farmers markets in the Aspirus service area. This FVRx voucher is redeemable for tokens to buy fresh, local fruits and vegetables at no cost to the patient.

The program is particularly valuable this year, given the number of people dealing with financial hardships. We know not everyone has easy access to fresh fruits and veggies. We are so happy to offer this program in our area and help put local foods on our patients’ plates.
