Aspirus Langlade Hospital names Sherry Bunten President

Sherry Bunten is the new President of Aspirus Langlade Hospital & Clinics effective October 8, 2021. She has served as Interim President of Aspirus Langlade since March.

“After conducting a comprehensive search, we are thrilled Sherry will continue her role as Aspirus Langlade Hospital President in a permanent capacity,” said Jesse Tischer, Aspirus SVP & President, Regional Markets. “Sherry’s commitment to the Aspirus Langlade Hospital, community and patients has been demonstrated time and again through her excellent work and many achievements over her nearly 20 years with Aspirus.”

Bunten began her tenure at Aspirus Langlade in 2002 as a Staff Development Coordinator and Infection Control Nurse. She next held the role of Nurse Manager of the Inpatient Units for 10 years until 2014 when she became the Vice President of Patient Care and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).

As VP-Patient Care/CNO, Bunten successfully facilitated the hospital’s Baby Friendly designation (2017) and Aspirus Langlade Nursing’s journey to Pathway to Excellence designation (2018). A gifted leader, she has served in several interim roles to support Aspirus and its people, including at Aspirus Medford and Aspirus Keweenaw.

“It is an honor to transition into the role of President for Aspirus Langlade Hospital,” Bunten said. “I am so grateful for this opportunity to continue to serve our local community who puts their faith in us every day. My commitment will continue to support our Aspirus Mission: ‘As a ministry of Jesus, we heal people, promote health and strengthen communities.’ We value the trust of those we serve, and I will continue to merit that trust as we care for those who need us.”

Bunten holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from UW-Madison and a Master of Healthcare Administration degree from the University of Cincinnati. She is a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives.
