Event Details:

Aspirus Health invites you to an informative and supportive program focused on managing stress and improving emotional self-awareness. Jim Swan, APNP, Behavioral Health Specialist, Aspirus Portage Clinic, will lead a one-hour session designed to help you recognize and respond to internal cues before stress and overwhelm escalate.

Each year, one in five adults in the United States experiences mental illness, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Despite this, many individuals hesitate to seek help due to stigma, fear, or uncertainty. One of the most effective ways to begin improving mental well-being is by developing emotional self-awareness—understanding how emotions impact your day-to-day life and learning how to manage them in healthy ways.

“This discussion will cover key topics including the definition of stress, the difference between stress and anxiety, physical and psychological symptoms of stress, and practical coping mechanisms that can be used in everyday life,” said Swan.

The event will take place on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Aspirus Divine Savior Hospital, 2817 New Pinery Road, Portage. Please use Entrance A and proceed to the lower level, Conference Room A. The program is free and open to the public, but advance registration is requested by calling 608.745.3868, Monday-Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Take this opportunity to learn, reflect, and take a positive step toward mental wellness with guidance from a trusted behavioral health professional. For more information, visit aspirus.org/mental-health-treatment-counseling.
