How to Wash Your Face

Washing your face doesn’t need to be complicated. Try these simple tips:

  1. Wash your face twice a day and after exercising. Any more than that is not necessary and may cause your skin to dry out.
  2. Wash with lukewarm water and apply cleanser with your fingertips using a small circular motion for 20 to 30 seconds. That is enough time to get your skin clean.
  3. Use a gentle, non-abrasive cleanser geared for your skin type.
  4. Exfoliate a few times a week. Having an exfoliator in your cleanser may seem like a time-saver, but it may be too hard on your skin if used daily.
  5. Resist the urge to scrub your skin. It can cause irritation.
  6. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry with a towel, leaving your skin slightly damp.  
  7. Apply moisturizer while your skin is still damp. This will lock in even more moisture. 
  8. Consider changing your face towel after a few uses. Reusing the same face towel may spread bacteria to your face.
