Two Aspirus Hospitals Named Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals

Two of Aspirus’ rural hospitals were recognized among the nation’s best by The Chartis Center for Rural Health.

Aspirus Langlade Hospital (ALH) and Aspirus Ironwood Hospital (AIR) were each named a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital.

Hospitals on this list are analyzed through the lens of the Hospital Strength INDEX, the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance in the United States.

“This recognition comes at a very challenging time in health care due to the delivery of healthcare services caused by the pandemic. This recognition affirms the commitment our outstanding healthcare team continues to make to serve and care for our patients. Aspirus takes pride in providing the best health care to the communities we serve with a special commitment to rural communities,” said Paula Chermside, Chief Administrative Officer for Aspirus Ironwood Hospital.

The INDEX leverages publicly available data to provide a comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance.

It is used by rural hospitals, health systems with rural footprints, hospital associations and state offices of rural health across the country to measure and monitor performance across a variety of areas impacting hospital operations and finance.

“This recognition celebrates our entire team, including front line staff, medical providers, leadership, and countless other areas throughout our region and system,” said Sherry Bunten, President of Aspirus Langlade Hospital. “It’s also about the support and trust we receive from our patients and community that play an essential role in this recognition and helps to inspire us to continue our mission.”
