Plover ER Nurse Honored as Aspirus Hero

Llyn Zillich is Aspirus Plover Hospital's most recent Aspirus Hero. Llyn's emergency department team made a donation to the Aspirus Health Foundation in her honor, writing:

"Llyn is a nurse at Aspirus Plover emergency department. Recently on her day off, she was driving through Stevens Point with her family when she observed a car moving abnormally slow and driving up onto the narrow median. This area is under intense construction, with very congested and dangerous traffic conditions. As she got closer, it was evident that something was seriously wrong with the driver. Llyn immediately pulled her car over, crossed traffic, and approached the vehicle. She could see the man was ill, his skin color was blue, and he appeared to have agonal breathing. She instructed her husband to call 911 while she climbed into the vehicle. The man was not breathing and did not have a pulse. Llyn was able to recline the front seat, straddle the man, and immediately started CPR compressions. Llyn, her husband, and a bystander were eventually able to pull the man from the vehicle and continue CPR until EMS arrived. The patient was transported emergently to Aspirus Wausau Hospital where he is recovering."

Llyn and her husband, Jeff, recently visited the gentleman in the hospital. She said she is happy they were in the right place at the right time, adding that Jeff called the experience life-changing for him. The othe
