Technology makes a greater impact on our lives more and more every day.
That’s also true in the health care world.
Information technology professionals play a key role in reducing medication errors, decreasing adverse drug reactions, and improving compliance to medical practice guidelines.
“I touch a little bit of everything in the hospital with technology, also knowing I’m making a difference in someone’s life,” says Aspirus Information Technology Analyst Jason Engel. “This is a great place to learn the ins and outs of a lot of things with technology in health care. It’s fast paced and keeps me on my toes.”
Jason started working at Aspirus almost three years ago. It was his first job right after finishing up college.
“I grew up in Medford and went to college in Wausau,” says Jason. “Wausau has a lot of different activities to offer that I enjoy doing like water skiing and downhill skiing. So, Wausau is an excellent fit for me.”
The goal of information technology in the healthcare industry is to improve the overall health of the population by improving the quality of care that patients receive. That goal is even more important during a global pandemic.
“My team and I needed to be on top of our game to make sure the medical professionals could take care of their patients,” says Jason.
IT professionals such as Jason are needed across the Aspirus system. The learning opportunities are vast while one can make a difference in their community.
