STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Aspirus Health is pleased to welcome Christy Mattern, PA‑C, to the Otolaryngology team at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital. Mattern is a nationally certified physician assistant with a strong commitment to patient education, collaborative decision making, and compassionate care for individuals of all ages.
Mattern earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Elon University in Elon, North Carolina, and holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Before transitioning into otolaryngology, she gained valuable experience in urgent care, strengthening her ability to evaluate and treat a wide range of patient needs.
With a passion for caring for patients across the lifespan, Mattern enjoys supporting individuals with a variety of ear, nose, and throat concerns, from toddlers with recurrent ear infections to older adults experiencing sudden hearing loss.
Her philosophy of care centers on education, clarity, and partnership.
“I strongly believe a vital part of our role as healthcare providers is to educate,” Mattern said. “Helping the patient understand what is occurring in their body is often one of the most powerful tools we have to relieve medical stress and fear. My job is not to make the decisions, my job is to explain the options and help the patient make the best choices for themselves.”
Outside of work, Mattern spends most of her free time outdoors hiking and camping or curled up with a cup of tea and a good book. She is an avid traveler and is always planning her next adventure.
Mattern is now accepting new patients at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital located at 824 Illinois Avenue. To schedule an appointment, call 715-346-5000 or visit aspirus.org.
