Aspirus Stanley Hospital Recognized Nationally for Sepsis Care Performance

Aspirus Health is proud to announce that Aspirus Stanley Hospital has been named among the top hospitals in the nation for sepsis care performance, earning recognition on a recent list published by Becker’s Hospital Review.

According to Becker’s Hospital Review’s list of hospitals with the highest SEP-1 scores, Aspirus Stanley Hospital achieved a SEP-1 score of 97, placing it among just twenty-five hospitals nationwide and the only facility in Wisconsin to reach scores of 95 or higher.

The SEP-1 measure, developed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), evaluates how effectively hospitals follow evidence-based protocols for the early identification and treatment of severe sepsis and septic shock.

“This recognition reflects the dedication and clinical excellence of our care teams in Stanley,” said Jessica Faude, MSN, RN-BC, VP-Chief Nursing Officer, Aspirus WI Northwest Division. “Sepsis is a life-threatening condition that requires rapid, coordinated care. Our team’s commitment to following best practices ensures patients receive timely, high-quality treatment when it matters most.”

Aspirus Stanley Hospital’s impressive performance highlights its focus on patient safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement in clinical outcomes.

“Delivering high-quality sepsis care requires coordination across multiple disciplines and a strong culture of accountability,” said Nicole Dekan, BSN, RN, Nursing Supervisor at Aspirus Stanley Hospital. “Our teams are deeply committed to acting quickly, following evidence-based protocols, and continuously improving how we care for patients facing this serious condition.”

While SEP-1 scores measure adherence to treatment protocols rather than patient outcomes, they are an important indicator of how consistently hospitals deliver evidence-based care during critical situations.
