Aspirus Rhinelander Clinic expands services

Clinic adds cardiac rehab, expands therapy

RHINELANDER, Wis. – Aspirus Rhinelander Clinic recently expanded its cardiac rehab and therapy services to better serve patients.

The clinic is now offering cardiac rehabilitation services on site, and has newly devoted space available to provide physical and occupational therapy services.

Cardiac rehab is an outpatient service that helps people gain strength and return to a normal, active lifestyle following heart-related procedures. The Aspirus cardiac rehab program focuses on education, lifestyle change and exercise. Monitored exercise is a key part of the program and helps people slowly restore their strength and endurance levels.

“Aspirus has one of the best heart programs in the nation, but it can be a big inconvenience for area residents to have to travel back-and-forth to Wausau for their follow-up cardiac rehab care,” said Robb Fabich, Regional Director for Aspirus Clinics. “People in the Northwoods can continue to have their cardiac procedures done in Wausau, but now they can get that added continuity by receiving their follow-up care locally at Aspirus Rhinelander Clinic.” 

Physical and occupational therapy has been provided at Aspirus Rhinelander Clinic for about three years, but the services have expanded to include additional staff and space.

“Our patients have had local access to physical and occupational therapy services at the clinic, but quickly outgrew the space we had designated for those services,” Fabich said. “After remodeling another area in the clinic, patients can now receive care in an area that is specifically designed for their unique needs and the equipment used during their appointments.”

Physical and occupational therapy services are offered at Aspirus Rhinelander Clinic on an outpatient basis. The therapists treat orthopedic conditions, neurologic conditions, back and neck pain and general weakness. The following specialty programs also are available:

  • Headache management
  • Lymphedema
  • Myofacial Release
  • Sports Medicine
  • Upper Extremity Splinting (including hands)
  • Urinary incontinence
  • Vestibular Therapy
  • Women’s Health

Physical therapy is offered five days a week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occupational therapy is available Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Thursdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon. Physical therapy hours will be extended to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday starting in September.
