Aspirus General Surgeon to Discuss Colorectal Cancer Awareness and Screenings at Community “Talk With A Doc” Event

Colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable cancers with regular screening, yet many people delay or avoid testing due to uncertainty or misconceptions. Community members are invited to learn more during an upcoming “Talk With A Doc” presentation hosted by Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital & Clinics.

The free event, “Let’s Talk About Colorectal Cancer,” will feature Rachel Laszko, MD, a General Surgeon with Aspirus Health, who will lead an open, informative conversation about colorectal cancer detection, screening options, and prevention.

The event will take place on Tuesday, April 21, at 6:00 p.m. at Aspirus Laurium Clinic, 205 Osceola Street, Laurium. Light refreshments will be provided. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is requested.

During the session, Dr. Laszko will discuss:

  • Who should be screened for colorectal cancer—and when
  • Colonoscopy versus stool-based testing options
  • Risk factors and prevention strategies
  • Early warning signs and symptoms
  • What to expect before, during, and after screening

“Colorectal cancer screening saves lives, and early detection greatly improves outcomes,” says Dr. Laszko. “This event is an opportunity for community members to ask questions, understand their screening options, and feel more confident about taking proactive steps for their health.”

The Talk With A Doc series provides an informal setting where community members can connect directly with physicians, ask questions, and learn about important health topics and local services available through Aspirus.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is requested.
