Aspirus Health is proud to welcome Katie Johnson, DPT, Physical Therapist to its outstanding outpatient therapies team. With over a decade of experience in providing expert rehabilitative care, Johnson will be seeing patients at Aspirus Outpatient Therapies in Houghton.
As part of Aspirus’ ongoing commitment to delivering exceptional, patient-centered care, Johnson brings a comprehensive background in orthopedic rehabilitation, concussion management, vestibular therapy, and athletic performance recovery.
She earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Michigan and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where she was also a decorated Division I women’s ice hockey athlete.
For more than a decade, she has helped patients recover from musculoskeletal injuries, post-operative procedures, balance disorders, and chronic pain through evidence-based, personalized therapy. She has also been a leader in concussion care—developing and advancing protocols to ensure safe, thorough recovery for both student athletes and general patients.
“I’m excited to join Aspirus and continue my passion for helping patients return to the activities that matter most to them,” said Johnson “Whether it's athletes returning to sport or older adults regaining independence, I strive to provide individualized, evidence-based care that leads to lasting outcomes.”
In addition to her clinical work, she has served as a Clinical Instructor and Center Coordinator of Clinical Education, mentoring future physical therapists through student rotations and hands-on instruction. She is certified in manual therapy, concussion management, and dry needling, and has completed specialized training in pain neuroscience education and Foundational Movement Patters for Athletic Performance.
She resides in Lake Linden and enjoys spending time with her family, staying active, and staying connected to the local sports community.
“We’re incredibly excited to welcome Katie to our outpatient therapy team,” said Dave Callaghan, DPT, Manager – Therapy Services. “Her extensive clinical expertise, strong academic background, and deep dedication to both her patients and professional development make her an outstanding fit for Aspirus. Her addition strengthens our ability to provide top-tier rehabilitative care to the people of the Keweenaw and surrounding areas, and we’re confident she’ll have a meaningful impact on the lives of our patients.”
Aspirus Health currently offers free 15-minute consultations with physical, occupational, or speech therapists. These consultations provide a chance to explore concerns, receive expert guidance, and determine if therapy may be beneficial.
