About Aspirus Riverview Hospital Birthing Center

In our Birthplace, moms deliver and get to know their little ones in spacious, hotel-style suites with spa-like restrooms featuring whirlpool tubs, walk-in showers and dimmable lighting. Each suite also features a queen-sized sleeper sofa and mini fridge. Artwork featuring soothing nature scenes from throughout Wisconsin add to the beautiful, calm and inspirational setting.

A Cesarean-section operating suite is located within our Birthplace; so all moms can experience the wonder of this special place, regardless of delivery method.

These many amenities combine with our experienced and caring Birthplace staff to provide moms and their loved ones with the best possible birth experience.

"Rooming in" provides the perfect opportunity for the new mom and family to become acquainted with its newest member. The baby is welcome to stay in the room as much as desired and may be returned to the nursery at any time mom wishes to sleep, bathe or just spend time alone. The nursery will be used to assess your baby's health and perform any necessary procedures.

We offer our Birthplace patients room service, so your meals are delivered when it is convenient for you. Just let your nurse know when you are going to be ready for a meal.

Arrival & Parking

Our Birthplace is located on the third floor of the Aspirus Riverview Tower (above the hospital's Emergency parking area). Mothers in labor and visitors may enter at any time through our ER entrance.

Patient drop-off/pick-up parking is available in the covered Emergency parking area. Following the 20-minute limit, the most convenient parking is in Lot 3 or 4 on the north side of Dewey Street.

Pain Management

Your pain management is important to us. Our staff is committed to excellence in pain management. In partnership with you, our goal is to help you better understand and control your pain. Pain management is a team effort! You will take an active role in working with your doctors and nurses to manage your pain. Upon admission and throughout your stay, we will regularly ask you about your pain using a pain assessment scale to measure your pain level.

Getting Ready to Go Home

While you're still in the Birthplace, our nurses will spend time with you providing one-on-one instruction and showing you some educational videos. This will help you go home feeling more confident about taking care of your new baby. Our nurses will also follow up with you after you go home to provide support and answer your questions.

The videos you will watch relate to mom/baby care, infant CPR and breastfeeding. If you are comfortable during labor, you can start watching the videos then. Otherwise, you will need to watch them the day before you go home from the Birthplace. This will help your discharge process go more rapidly when it is time for you to go home.

Car Seat Required: Aspirus Riverview Family Birthplace requires that all our newborns go home in an approved infant car seat. Infant car seats should be six years old or newer and never involved in a car accident. (Even a minor car accident can cause damage to the car seat, which may not be seen by you.) Please DO NOT purchase a head rest, covers for the car seat straps or toys for the car seat handles. If the head rest and the car seat straps did not come with your car seat, they have not been crash tested with your car seat and can cause harm to your baby if they slip. Toys for car seat handles can harm your baby if you stop short or are involved in a car accident. They can also cause motion sickness in infants.
